I see a movie in both outcomes

When the time to replace Kenny Dalglish came, Roberto Martinez was overlooked in favor of Brendan Rodgers. So it’s kind of funny that Martinez is in a position to be the man to lead Liverpool to their first Premier League title in 25 years after all.

Manchester City’s record at Everton. Lost their last 4 games and are without a win in the past 15! A must-win game against a traditional bogey side is what Hollywood scriptwriters earn their bread writing.

Rewind to 2012, and City were in a similar position. Then, they had to beat a resurgent Newcastle away, who were pushing for Europe, just as Everton are in the present. Newcastle even had Papiss Cisse who was scoring goals of the season for fun before breakfast.

What City had then and now is Yaya Toure. He’s their most influential man on the field and you have to say he’s the one who’s going to decide which script’s going to be green-lit. Will it be the one about the team who put on a romantic run and beat out their more illustrious and well-heeled rivals or will it be about the team who conquered their bogey sides when it mattered the most?

I’ll be happy whichever of these two comes out on top. #anyonebutChelsea
