Matt Damon used to <mock him>. Nowadays, he’s all <praise for him>.

Jessica Chastain has been reduced to presenting awards to him. Sometimes with a <celebratory jig>, sometimes with an <“alright alright”.>

When did and how could this happen? What made him move beyond the rom-coms that he was so dedicated to doing with the likes of Kate Hudson and Penelope Cruz? Who put some sense into his head?

You don’t just shed your poor choices and lose your acclaimed bod and make movies with Soderbergh and Scorsese and Nolan and become an Oscar frontrunner! McConaughsance is what they are calling this metamorphosis.

And I haven’t even mentioned his great work in HBO’s True Detective! You better believe in the power of the McConaughsance.

Movies that belong to the McConaughsance era:

The Lincoln Lawyer
Killer Joe
Magic Mike
Mud
Dallas Buyers Club
Wolf of Wall Street
Interstellar

That’s six movies he could have gotten an Oscar nom for and in the 7th, he’s leading an ensemble that includes Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Casey Affleck, and Anne Hathaway among others. That ain’t just alright, that’s bloody impressive.

Finally, here he is in a Dolce & Gabbana commercial shot by Scorsese.
