Federer’s no longer invincible, Roger that

There was a time when the only person who could even dream of beating him was Nadal and that too on clay. The situation has changed quite a bit now a days. In fact, he has manged to win only one title this whole year.

In yesterday’s match, he managed to break Stepanek’s serve and level the second set at 5-5 having lost the first set. He even managed to go ahead in the tie-breaker but somehow lost it 8-6. That was quite uncharacteristic from the great man. With Nadal having been knocked out the previous day, he should have been fancying his chances but alas, he found out that he isn’t anymore the unbeatable force, that most of us loved and some of us loathed.

There is no doubting that he will continue to win grand slams but he may well be reduced to doing that in a normal mortal way. Who knows he might even win the French Open this time around when everyone’s least expecting.

Players who managed to beat Federer this year :-

1) Djokovic (Aus open SF)

2) Andy Murray (Dubai open Rnd 32)

3) Mardy Fish (Indian Wells, SF)

4) Andy Roddick (Miami, QF)

5) Nadal (Monte Carlo, F)

6) Stepanek (Rome, QF)

Overall, he took part in 7 tournaments.
